Ordering Online After ordering live specimens, make sure you are ready to use them:
| Ants: | Make sure you have all necessary materials for your Ant Farm®, including sand and instructions. You will not need to set up your Ant Farm® until your ants arrive. | | Tadpoles: | Make sure you have bottled spring water (room temperature) on hand. You will not need to set up the frog habitat until your tadpole arrives. | | Hermit Crabs: | Make sure to have bottled spring water on hand when your Hermit Crabs arrive. It is recommended that you dunk them into a bowl filled with spring water 3-4 times upon arrival. Allow your Hermit Crab 24 hours to recover from shipping shock. Crabs will be very shy at first. If your Hermit Crabs don’t make the trip, there will be a very distinctive, strong, fishy odor. We must be notified of any problems with your order no later than two(2) business days after you receive it. | Shipments containing live creatures must be opened immediately upon receipt. If you are a teacher and your orders arrive at a warehouse, make arrangements to have your live shipment delivered immediately. We cannot be responsible for live shipments that are left unattended.

Shipping We make every effort to ship your creatures within 4 weeks of receipt of your online order. Shipment may be delayed due to weather conditions in your area (see below). Priority mail ship times are determined from the date the item is shipped, not from the order date. If you have an outdoor mailbox that is exposed to extreme heat or cold, please arrange with your postman to have your shipment of live creatures placed in a covered area near your front door. Bring it inside as soon as possible. It is safest to have the shipment sent to an address where it will be delivered indoors or to a post office box.
All orders are shipped via Priority Mail within the US and Global Priority outside the US. UPS 2-Day or Next Day shipping is available (within the US) at an additional fee. Please calll our service line(888-742-2484) to request special shipping. All shipping charges are non-refundable
UMI is not responsible for reimbursing costs associated with shipping should an incorrect address be provided by the customer. Should you place an order in error, and we ship it, UMI is not responsible for reimbursment. Orders placed from countries other than the United States may be charged more than the quoted shipping price.
Please note that we ship from two different locations, depending on what you order. This means that if you order multiple items, they may not all arrive in the same package.
This also means that if you order one or more different creatures to ship via UPS next day or UPS 2 day, the shipping charge will be more.
**To place multiple orders to multiple addresses you must place a seperate order for each different address.** Ant orders usually ship within 2-4 weeks. Hermit Crabs ship monthly. Tadpole orders usually ship within 2-4 weeks from order date. Toy Part orders received by Thursday will ship Monday Please note that all shipping estimates can vary depending on weather conditions. Weather Delays Inclement weather can severely harm your live creatures during their journey to your home. For this reason we may restrict shipping at certain times of the year due to unsafe weather conditions. School Purchase Orders We accept purchase orders by mail or fax only. Phone or online purchase orders are not accepted. Purchase orders must be printed on school letterhead and signed by a billing authorization official. Purchase order must be a minimum of $50.
